I believe much of our conflict in the SDA Church is due to ignoring the Bible Study Method that William Miller used. I will attach some documents I created to share particularly James White's remembrances of the William Miller Bible Study Method. William Miller never accepted the Sabbath. James White lead the Sabbath Conferences of 1845 and following where our 5 pillar doctrines: "The Second Coming, The Sabbath, The Sanctuary, The State of the Dead, and the Spirit of Prophecy." (Our early leaders focused on how we were different from other denominations. I wish they added a sixth Pillar "Salvation/Savior". If they did we might not have rejected Righteousness by Faith in 1888.)
Whenever I had Cognitive Dissonance on a topic, I started studying that topic in Eden/Genesis and sometimes would read the entire Bible. I would end in Revelation of the New Earth. This method never failed to help me find answers. However, sometime those answers took years. I offer to study any topic with interested parties if they agree to use the William Miller Bible Study Method.
Currently, I have started a Zoom Meeting focused on the Godhead/Trinity. At the time of this blog, Session one is complete. I will post an overview of where we are and what texts were used. I am using teaching methods for adult learners. As such we are not reading through the Bible. We are however discussing texts as the group determines. We then put them (mentally) on a continuum from Eden to the New Earth.
Spoiler Alert: Session one was very interesting, but we only found texts that allow for the Trinity, but do not prove or disprove the Trinity. And if you decide to join us, we are following the "Bible is the only rule of faith and practice." This means if Ellen White influenced your thinking, you still need to use the "Greater Light" her lesser light pointed you to see.
We meet Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. EST. I have seven weeks of study with more being available if needed.
