Picnic Pavilion

2013:  NNEC's Washington Special Project Fund is currently supporting construction of the new pavilion, to be built in the woods between the church and the parking lot. This fund has $24,544.74 currently for the building of the pavilion.

This 30 foot by 50 foot pavilion will serve between 90 and 120 people.  It will have storage and netting to protect people during bug season. The estimated cost is $25,000, and we are currently near our goal if material cost remain close to last years prices.  Please help us complete the funding for this project, providing worshipers a sturdy, elegant, multi-purpose space to use on Sabbath visits. It still needs the roof, bug netting, and tables. Any overflow funding will roll over to our next project.

July 27, 2014  So here is the BIG NEWS!!! After the church service yesterday, the Southwestern Union leaders met and agreed that they would donate the remaining funding needed to build the pavilion in the woods. Work on it will begin after a permit from the town is secured, however some of the pre-work will be accomplished during the August 10 work bee.

August 10, 2014 Seth Harris arrived at 7:30 this morning as we prepare for today and tomorrow's work bees. We are clearing the area for the new pavilion and working on trail sites. Its not too late to join us.

October 28, 2014  The pavilion project is going forward. We are submitting paperwork for the building permit to the town of Washington. We have cleared the trees from the area earlier this year and plan to start site prep soon. If all goes well we will have the roof on before the first snow closes the road.

November 14, 2014  David Germaine and Ken Brummel took down the tent building. The tent building has served many a fellowship meal and has served the church for many years. It is being replaced by a pavilion that will serve 90-120 people that will be built between the church and the parking area next spring. See slideshow below.

more progress 2015

June 19, 2015  We have started site work and construction.

June 23, 2015  I am looking for volunteers for the pavilion building project at Washington NH. We will have the trusses arriving in the next two weeks. We need 6-10 strong people go help move the trusses from the parking lot to installing them. If you are available to help let me know. We are trying to have the roof in place for July 18 when the Atlantic Union office is hosting the Sabbath Services. (And of course for Annual Meeting on August 1.)

June 24, 2015  Michael Patton and Lloyd Condon have most of the posts in on the pavilion.

July 2, 2015  It been confirmed that the pavilion trusses are scheduled to arrive on Thursday July 9, in the early morning. We can still use two to four additional helpers to help install them on the beams.

July 9, 2015  The Washington NH SDA Church pavilion trusses arrive today so Lloyd and volunteers are installing them. Tomorrow we are roofing the pavilion. Volunteers are needed tomorrow, also. Bring a lunch and help out if you are in the area.

July 11, 2015  Waiting for the roof to arrive.

The roof is on! and ready for potluck, July 31, 2015.

2017 Update

We have completed Stage 1 of the Pavilion project. We have a roof and a floor.  We need to raise funds for Stage 2. This is the triangle gable ends of the building, the netting on the rafters to prevent birds from nesting there, storage, 15 picnic tables and bug netting for the sides. We will then move on to the cemetery project. If you want to help with these projects to make the site nicer for visitors please go to our donation page.  The NNEC is our treasurer and will provide receipts as needed.

Pavilion progress 2020

May 10, 2020  A tree fell on the pavilion. Work begins this week on repairs. For safety, we are not wanting visitors in that area. While insurance is covering this repair, we have limited funds available to add the storage and netting to keep birds from nesting in the rafters, which has been needed for a while now. In addition, we get most of our operating funds from visitors.

If you would like to help with the expenses of this historic site, mail your gift to:
